Background: The Teesta Valley Tea Estate in eastern Darjeeling lies on steep slopes above the Teesta river whose source is Kanchenjunga, third highest mountain in the world! Teesta Valley is managed in close conjunction with neighbouring Gielle and these tea gardens were first planted in 1841. Located on elevated slopes stretching from 2500 - 6500 ft and planted with China tea bushes these gardens are blessed with cool mist, crisp winds and bright sunshine; the perfect recipe for the legendary taste of Darjeeling.

Brewing guide: Darjeeling tea should be drunk black (without milk) to enjoy the aromatic qualities. In Darjeeling they use just 2 grams (1 slightly heaped teaspoon) per 200ml mug @ 99C steeped for 5mins. This brings out the aromatics very well, but we find it a little 'thin'. So  try brewing 2.5g (1 heaped teaspoon) with 150ml for 2min 30secs. Goes for a good 2-3 infusions (infusion 2: 1min 15s, infusion 3: 2mins+).
