Superb Karigane (whole stem) Hojicha direct from a high class tea estate in Uji. This green tea gains its toasty flavour from the unique roasting process and can be enjoyed hot or cold, being widely drunk as iced-tea in Japan over summer. The wholesome flavour makes it very versatile as a great additive in cooking, be it for a broth or stock, as well as being a tasty palate cleanser. Ours is top quality, with deep golden shades and a wonderful smoky hay like aroma. It infuses into a clear golden coloured infusion with sweet toasty notes balanced by a subtly acrid smokyness originating in the roasting process.
